The Global Ambassador

The Global Ambassador opened December 6, 2023, installing 141 rooms and suites at the corner of 44th Street and Camelback Road, restaurateur Sam Fox's first venture into hotels. It is an independent property affiliated with Preferred Hotels & Resorts, and in 2025 became the only Phoenix hotel to earn a Michelin Key.

The place

The hotel sits in the Arcadia neighborhood at 4360 East Camelback Road, on the corner of 44th Street, at the point where Phoenix, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley meet near the base of Camelback Mountain. The address places guests between two distinct identities: the citrus-grove residential streets of Arcadia on one side and the retail and dining corridor running toward Scottsdale on the other, with Old Town Scottsdale and Biltmore Fashion Park both a short drive away. It is a location chosen for connective position rather than a single neighborhood identity, giving the hotel access to three municipalities' worth of shopping, golf and desert scenery without being planted firmly inside any one of them.

The concept

Sam Fox, the James Beard-nominated restaurateur behind Fox Restaurant Concepts, designed the hotel himself in collaboration with Judith Testani of Testani Design Troupe, drawing on his own travels through Paris, the Amalfi Coast and beyond rather than following an established hospitality brand playbook. The 141 keys break down into 92 king rooms, 19 double-queen rooms and 30 suites, ranging from 650-square-foot petite suites to a single 2,000-square-foot presidential suite. The lobby sets the tone with gray-and-white marble floors, dark wood paneling and hunter-green walls, while guest rooms carry original artwork commissioned from Arizona-based artist Michael Carson. As an independent property under the Preferred Hotels & Resorts LVX collection rather than a global chain, The Global Ambassador positions itself as a personal, restaurateur-built alternative to the resort compounds that dominate the Phoenix-Scottsdale luxury market. The bet is that Fox's reputation for dining concepts — he has built more than 45 restaurants across the country — would translate into a hotel where food and design carry equal weight, aimed at both destination travelers and the local Phoenix crowd the surrounding restaurants were built to attract.

Dining & wellness

Five in-house venues anchor the property: Le Âme, a French steakhouse serving classics like steak frites across breakfast through dinner; Le Market, a bakery by day that turns into a cheese-and-wine shop by evening; Théa, a Mediterranean rooftop restaurant billed as Arizona's largest, with three bars and Camelback Mountain views; Pink Dolphin, a poolside spot serving Mexican- and Peruvian-inspired ceviche and cocktails; and an all-day Lobby Bar with live jazz. A wellness floor adds treatment rooms, cold plunges, saunas and steam rooms alongside an outdoor pool with two hot tubs.
