Denū Hotel & Spa

Denū Hotel & Spa will open in downtown Phoenix in September 2026, becoming the first hotel in the urban core to offer a full-service spa. The 236-room property rises 17 stories at the corner of Central Avenue and Adams Street, joining the Meritage Collection portfolio under developer-operator Pacific Hospitality Group. Gensler designed the tower, with construction underway since groundbreaking in September 2024.

The place

The hotel sits at the corner of Central Avenue and Adams Street in downtown Phoenix, within a few blocks of the Phoenix Convention Center, Chase Field and the historic Renaissance Hotel and Hanny's building next door. The immediate area has been building out as a cultural corridor, with the Phoenix Symphony, the Heard Building and the Arizona Latino Arts & Cultural Center all nearby, alongside independent restaurants such as Melinda's Alley and El Zaguán Bistro within walking distance. It is a downtown address built for both convention business and a growing residential and arts population, rather than for resort-style leisure travel typical of greater Phoenix.

The concept

Denū is developed by a partnership of Pacific Hospitality Group, Berger Holdings and JWG Investments (an affiliate of Sunbelt Holdings), with Mortenson Development serving as development and construction partner and Gensler as architect. Ground broke in September 2024, and the 180,000-square-foot, 17-story tower is on track for a fall 2026 completion, with reservations already open for stays from September 16, 2026. The hotel positions itself as a four-star boutique property — 236 guest rooms, including 15 suites and one presidential suite — operating under Pacific Hospitality Group's Meritage Collection, a portfolio of independent, design-driven hotels across the western United States. The name Denū draws on a local term evoking the "Valley of the Sun," a reference to the Phoenix basin and to the wellness positioning at the center of the concept. That positioning rests chiefly on the claim to be downtown Phoenix's first hotel with a full-service spa, a gap in a market otherwise dominated by convention-scale properties with limited wellness offerings. More than 22,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, spread across roughly 18 venues, will also put the hotel in contention for the corporate and conference business that anchors much of downtown Phoenix's hotel demand.

Dining & wellness

The dining program centers on Sartén Kitchen & Bar, an all-day restaurant drawing on Sonoran culinary traditions, alongside a lobby bar built around infused cocktails and barrel-aged spirits. On the 17th floor, Nidos Rooftop Bar pairs a Latin-Mediterranean menu and live music with skyline views over downtown Phoenix, next to a rooftop pool and lounge. Blend Café covers casual, street-level coffee and pastries. Wellness runs through Solstone Holistic Spa, a co-ed, Hammam-inspired space built around thermal rituals and treatments — the anchor of the hotel's claim to be downtown Phoenix's first full-service spa.
