ADERO Scottsdale, Autograph Collection
Purpose-built desert boutique resort in the Sonoran foothills of north Scottsdale
Open · 2020
ADERO Scottsdale opened October 1, 2020, as a purpose-built desert resort in the Sonoran foothills above north Scottsdale, joining Marriott's Autograph Collection with 177 rooms and suites. Backed by a $100 million investment from developer Palisades Resorts, it markets itself as Scottsdale's only Dark Sky Zone property, built around stargazing, trail access and unobstructed mountain views rather than a golf-and-pool template.

The place
The resort sits at 13225 North Eagle Ridge Drive, more than 2,500 feet above sea level in the Sonoran Desert foothills near Fountain Hills, roughly 25 miles from downtown Scottsdale. The site places it inside a certified Dark Sky Community, with the McDowell Mountain Range and Four Peaks visible from most rooms and direct access to the Adero Canyon Trail, a 1.2-mile hiking and mountain-biking route. SunRidge Canyon Golf Club adjoins the property. It is a location chosen for isolation and darkness rather than proximity to Old Town Scottsdale's restaurants and shopping, positioning ADERO closer to outdoor recreation than to the city's resort-and-nightlife corridor.
The concept
ADERO was developed by Palisades Resorts and designed by Allen + Philp Partners with interiors from MONOGRAM Hospitality Interiors at BBGM, built new rather than converted from an existing structure. The 177 keys span a range of categories — Celestial Suites, Terrace Suites, Dark Sky Corner Suites, Desert Spa Suites, and standard Canyon, Mountain and Cliffside-view rooms — with about 95% of accommodations oriented toward mountain vistas and every room fitted with a private balcony intended for night-sky viewing. Aqua-Aston Hospitality manages the property under the Autograph Collection banner. The concept centers on the resort's Dark Sky Zone status, translating it into a program of evening telescope tours and night markets alongside more conventional resort amenities. Public art, including a Rattlesnake Pavilion installation, and a sustainability push — bulk toiletry dispensers, filtered hydration stations — round out a positioning aimed at travelers seeking a boutique, activity-driven alternative to the area's larger legacy resorts. The result reads as a desert lodge built for hikers and stargazers as much as for pool days, with AAA Four Diamond recognition and inclusion on Condé Nast Traveler's Hot List following its opening.
Dining & wellness
CIELO, the resort's signature restaurant, sits at over 2,500 feet elevation with indoor and outdoor seating built around what the property describes as a farm-to-table-to-sky approach to regional, sustainably sourced cuisine. REVIVE Marketplace covers grab-and-go and in-room dining. Wellness facilities include The Spa at ADERO, offering treatments built around amethyst and desert minerals, a 24-hour fitness center, a roughly 5,300-square-foot Wellness Studio equipped with 11 Peloton bikes, and a poolside area serving as the resort's central gathering space.
