evo turned five joined-together century-old warehouses in the Granary District into a 50-room hotel built around climbing, skating and gear rental rather than conference space. It's the smallest and most singular of Salt Lake City's recent openings.

The place

evo Hotel is part of Campus Salt Lake in the Granary District, a cluster of five formerly disused century-old warehouse buildings assembled into a single 100,000-square-foot complex just south of downtown.

The concept

evo, the Seattle-founded outdoor and action-sports retailer, converted the warehouse buildings into its first hotel as the centerpiece of Campus Salt Lake — a combined retail store, Bouldering Project climbing gym, All Together Skatepark and gathering space. The 50 rooms are unapologetically niche: the Wasatch Room is a master suite with a private patio and mountain views, Boulder Rooms sit directly above the climbing gym, Rafter Rooms strip out TVs and windows for a bunkhouse feel, and Bunk Rooms mix a king bed with a bunk for groups. It is a genuine first-time hotel use of a warehouse complex that had no prior lodging history, aimed squarely at climbers, skaters and outdoor travelers rather than the convention crowd downtown — a clear point of differentiation in a city otherwise dominated by convention-hotel openings.

Dining & wellness

Guests have access to Campus Salt Lake's on-site restaurant, bar and Market Hall, alongside the climbing gym, skatepark and evo's retail and gear-rental shop. Details on specific outlet names are to be confirmed.
