The place

The hotel sits at the corner of 200 South and 200 West in downtown Salt Lake City, directly across from the Salt Palace Convention Center and within the city's Arts District, as part of a 2.5-acre mixed-use block.

The concept

Utah's first AC Hotel by Marriott opened in April 2018 as the hospitality piece of a ground-up mixed-use development by Dallas-based Woodbine Development Corporation and Provo-based PEG Development, which also added 170 apartments and 16,000 square feet of retail on the same block. FFKR Architects served as architect of record for the eight-story building. The AC brand, founded by Spanish hotelier Antonio Catalán before Marriott took a majority stake in 2011, is built around a pared-back, European design language; the property is operated by Lehi-based In-Group Hospitality.

Dining & wellness

AC Kitchen serves a European-style breakfast of tarts, croissants and local artisan meats and cheeses, while the AC Lounge offers tapas-style plates alongside craft beer, wine and cocktails. The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness center and roughly 1,276 square feet of meeting space.
