Bullitt Dublin

Nine years after Beannchor first sought planning permission (and after diggers uncovered a forgotten 11th-century graveyard beneath a Victorian bakery) construction has finally begun on Bullitt Dublin, a 98-room sibling to Belfast's cult-favorite hotel, targeted for 2028.

The place

133-136 Capel Street, Dublin 1, just off Capel Street's bar-and-restaurant strip and within walking distance of the River Liffey, Temple Bar and the Henry Street shopping district.

The concept

This second Bullitt hotel, a sibling to Bullitt Belfast (opened 2016), converts the former Boland's Bakery (a Victorian building later used as Riverdance's headquarters) into an eight-story, 98-room hotel that restores and extends the existing structure rather than replacing it. Planning permission was granted in 2021 after Dublin City Council reviewed the scheme, but what Beannchor's owner Bill Wolsey believed was a Georgian building turned out to contain far older fabric: archaeological digs from 2023 uncovered roughly 100 medieval-period skeletal remains, some dated to the early 11th century (predating the nearby 12th-century St Mary's Abbey by about a hundred years) along with a 1667 Presbyterian meeting house and 1890s bakery ovens. Construction finally began in April 2026 after a €35 million financing deal closed, alongside Beannchor's own €30 million project investment. The design and format are intended to mirror Bullitt Belfast, built around a courtyard bar, film-referencing decor (the brand is named for the 1968 Steve McQueen film) and an award-winning restaurant.

Dining & wellness

Plans include a lobby bar, a café/restaurant, a second restaurant, a traditional pub, function and conference space and an outdoor courtyard, echoing Bullitt Belfast's Taylor & Clay restaurant built around a wood-fired grill.
