Tribeca — the Triangle Below Canal Street — sits just north of the Financial District, where 19th-century warehouses have been converted into some of Manhattan's most expensive loft apartments. It's quieter than SoHo a few blocks north, with a genuine neighborhood feel despite the price tags, and none of the hotels we currently track has opened here yet.

For a weekend
Walk the cast-iron and cobblestone blocks around Franklin and White Streets, then head to the Hudson River waterfront at Pier 25 for a quieter stretch of park than Battery Park City further south. The Tribeca Film Festival, held each spring, brings screenings and events across the neighborhood if your trip lines up with it.
For a longer stay
With more time, Tribeca's restaurant scene — dense with both longtime institutions and newer openings — rewards an evening without a fixed itinerary. The neighborhood also makes a natural pairing with a Financial District or Chinatown day, both an easy walk away.
