The concept Developed and owned by San Antonio-based Zachry Hospitality at a cost of $185 million, the design draws on monarch butterflies that migrate through the region, expressed in curved, sculptural architecture and regionally sourced art and ceramics. It is the first major luxury hotel to open in Hemisfair since the park's redevelopment began, explicitly built to honor the site's history.

I had an amazing stay at The Monarch San Antonio while celebrating my birthday. From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional and the hotel was absolutely beautiful. I truly felt like a queen — from being welcomed with such great hospitality to having the doors opened for me as I arrived in the vehicle. Every detail, from the elegant design to the comfortable rooms, made the experience feel luxurious and unforgettable. The atmosphere was peaceful, the staff was welcoming, and the entire property felt like a true getaway. It was the perfect place to celebrate such a special occasion. I would definitely recommend The Monarch to anyone looking for a memorable stay in San Antonio. I will absolutely be coming back!
Check-in was quick and effortless, and the front desk agent went above and beyond to answer all of my questions and make me feel welcome. The hotel is brand new and beautifully designed. I absolutely loved the modern architecture and atmosphere.
The room was the best hotel room I've ever slept in. It was quiet, spacious, incredibly comfortable, and had a beautiful view.
We had breakfast at Aleteo, and everything was delicious. The servers provided exceptional service and made the experience even more enjoyable. We also stopped by Nectarie Café, where the matcha was excellent. Overall, I had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our stay at The Monarch was outstanding from start to finish. The hotel is beautiful, clean, modern, and in a perfect location for exploring downtown San Antonio. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and were always friendly and eager to help.
One of our favorite perks was the complimentary shuttle service—it made getting around downtown incredibly easy and stress-free. The rooms were comfortable, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.
If you’re looking for a hotel that offers excellent service, a great atmosphere, and convenient access to everything San Antonio has to offer, The Monarch is an easy choice. We’ll definitely be staying here again on our next trip. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I have no negatives about the hotel itself. There was nothing that happened that was less than exceptional. The rooms are well appointed, the bathrooms are spacious, and the amenities on the grounds are exceptional. The pool was one of the more enjoyable experiences my wife and I have had at any pool. It's cooled so it was exceptionally refreshing on a 100° day. Everything in this hotel has been thought about and that includes the outdoor showers and the wood flooring around the pool area. We will without a doubt be returning.
We went to the restaurant on the 17th floor. The views of San Antonio are amazing. The staff we interacted it with was equally so. If we come back as a family, I don't know that we will go up there because it's not necessarily an area for families and some of the high-end clientele we experienced up there were less than family friendly.
Okayyyy so…Monarch San Antonio was actually a good stay for our little family trip. We stayed one night with our two kiddos (2 & 4) in a two-bed room and everything felt super new, clean, modern, and just easy. Beth at the front desk was an angel and made us feel so welcomed from the start.
BUT WAIT. This is the part that got me. While we were out at dinner, housekeeping came into our room and secretly set up the CUTEST little tent with butterfly dolls, blankets, and twinkle lights for the kids. I’m not kidding — the kids were losing their minds with excitement and honestly… so was I 😂 It was such a thoughtful surprise.
Also random but important: usually hotel shampoo/conditioner/soap gives “meh,” but theirs smelled SO good?? I was genuinely shocked. And the shower was huge — like all four of us fit comfortably.
And can we talk about the flavored water dispensers by the elevators?! What hotel thinks of that? Tiny detail but it made it feel extra special.
Overall, customer service was amazing and the whole place felt family-friendly without being chaotic. If you’re visiting with kids, they’ve got a pool, cute butterfly art/structures around the property, and you’re close to the River Walk too. We all left happy, which honestly feels rare with little kids 😂 Would absolutely stay again.
