The Cloudveil, Autograph Collection

The Cloudveil opened on Jackson's historic Town Square on May 26, 2021, becoming the only hotel located directly on the square. The 100-room property, part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, replaced a 1970s Wells Fargo bank building that itself stood on the site of Jackson Hole's first bank.

The place

The hotel occupies a corner of Town Square, the log-arch-framed plaza at the center of downtown Jackson and the traditional starting point for trips into Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. No other hotel sits directly on the square, putting Cloudveil guests within a block of the town's restaurants, galleries and outfitters rather than a shuttle ride away.

The concept

The site had housed a bank since Jackson Hole's earliest days, most recently a Wells Fargo branch built in the 1970s with drive-through teller lanes that left the corner underused. Architects TruexCullins and CLB Architects, working with the IBI Group, replaced it with a new-build hotel referencing the oldest standing structure on the square: stacked stone, timber and metal in place of a strip-mall-era bank facade. Inside, a three-story granite wall and a wood-burning fireplace anchored by a large boulder front desk set the tone for 100 guest rooms and suites finished with oak beams, leather furnishings and photography from local Jackson Hole artists, a design pitched at travelers who want a downtown address without giving up mountain-lodge materials.

Dining & wellness

The Bistro, overseen by Jackson restaurateur Gavin Fine, serves French-inflected food and drink at street level, and a 5,000-square-foot rooftop terrace extends the program outdoors. The hotel also runs an outdoor heated pool and hot tub, a fitness center equipped with Peloton bikes and a Lululemon Fitness Mirror, and 7,500 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting space, with a dedicated Pathfinders concierge team for park logistics.
