Residence Inn by Marriott Reno South is a newly built, 128-room extended-stay hotel that opened in September 2025 next to Tamarack Casino in south Reno. Owned by the Pegram and Carano families and operated by Azul Hospitality, it offers kitchen-equipped suites aimed at relocating professionals and families in one of Reno's busiest casino-and-shopping corridors.

The place

The hotel opened in south Reno's business, shopping and entertainment district, next to the Tamarack Casino and about ten minutes from the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Atlantis, Peppermill and Grand Sierra Resort, with Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe and the airport also a short drive away.

The concept

Built new and owned by the locally prominent Pegram and Carano families, this 128-room Residence Inn is an extended-stay play for south Reno, offering studio, one- and two-bedroom suites with full-size kitchen appliances and separate living and sleeping areas. Azul Hospitality, which also operates Hyatt Place South Reno, manages the property, and the amenity set (Peloton-equipped fitness center, outdoor pool and whirlpool, meeting room, flexible outdoor gathering space) targets both relocating professionals and families needing more room than a standard hotel floor plan.

Its positioning next to Tamarack Casino places it in Reno's established casino-resort corridor, but as a purpose-built, non-gaming extended-stay hotel rather than a casino property itself.

Ive been staying here about 2 months off and on working on a project. It is extremely clean, the front desk staff is always polite and courteous theyre always smiling and having fun doing a great job. There is a grill near the pool and all the guest come out, chat and hangout. Atmosphere is a 10. Breakfast is good lots of choices. The only thing bad which really isnt a big deal is that if you bring an Xbox for entertainment you have to have maintenance punch in the MAC address so if you want to game or watch shows just call ahead. The view of the mountains are beautiful too. Location is good for shopping and eating. If you prefer cooking in your room theres a smiths 5 mins always good deals if you get the Smiths card. Id recommend you stay here whether its business or pleasure. The tamarack next door is a fun place to have a beer and meet people. The restaurant in the back is delicious I had the surf and turf. I usually dont write reviews but I wanted to show gratitude. They always remember the guest names as well and they call you Mr. Or Mrs. Very respectful and proper.

Best Residence Inn I've ever been to in my life! We stayed here for the AAU National Championships to be able to qualify for the JOs in Des Moines. The front desk ladies were all super nice, fresh purified water fresh out of the ice machines on every floor, modern drinking cups downstairs, and in the rooms aswell, and modern golfing area downstairs with pool overfacing the mountains! This hotel was such a damn vibe! Definetly coming back here! And the housekeeping lady who help cleaned our room, (235), was so nice, even though we had to use a translator for her.

This is a great hotel. We will definitely stay here again if we ever find ourselves in Reno again. The only thing we didn't care for was the lack of shower door, it was a little cold/breezy. The staff were all great and friendly. There is free breakfast in the morning, a putt putt area, a pool with a hot tub. There were two BBQ grills and a firepit at the putt putt area. There are EV chargers in the parking lot near the pool. This is a newer hotel and I definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed here for a basketball tournament, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and modern. The staff were exceptionally nice, courteous, and very accommodating throughout our stay. Our teammates enjoyed staying here as well, and we definitely plan to make this our hotel every year for the Memorial Weekend tournaments. Easily a 10/10 ⭐️

I have had the pleasure of staying on numerous long term occasions at this beautiful new property in South Reno, and it exceeded my expectations in every category. The location is incredibly convenient, situated just minutes from the Summit Mall and grocery shopping at either Walmart or Raleys, while remaining peaceful and quiet. The standout property is expertly run under the direction of the General Manager, Miguel. His leadership clearly trickles down to the staff, as the hospitality here is top-tier. I want to specifically highlight Alexis, Jenyfer, Mayya, Makeila and Chasity. As an international solo traveler, their courtesy and engaging conversation made my journey so much more enjoyable. It is rare to find a team that makes you feel this welcome. Property and Amenities • The Views: If you can, grab a room on the western side—the mountain views are absolutely spectacular. • Facilities: Both the gym and laundry facilities are terrific and well-maintained. • Dining: They offer a modest but truly delicious breakfast to start the day. • Cleanliness: A huge thank you to the housekeeping and maintenance teams; the property is spotless and everything functions perfectly. Whether you are traveling for business or leisure, this is easily one of the best spots to stay in Reno. I will definitely be back!
