Hyatt Place South Reno is a 132-room, ground-up Hyatt that opened in October 2024 next to The Summit shopping center at the foot of the Sierra Nevada. Built for travelers splitting time between Reno business and Tahoe-area skiing, every room has mountain views and the hotel added dedicated ski and golf storage.

The place

The hotel opened at the foot of the Sierra Nevada in south Reno, next to The Summit shopping and entertainment center, roughly 14 miles from the Mt. Rose ski resort and a short drive from Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

The concept

Hyatt Place South Reno is a ground-up, 132-room build developed by Tolles & Pelzer Hospitality with Azul Hospitality and Hyatt, positioned squarely at the crossroads of business and outdoor-recreation travel: every room has mountain views, and the property added golf-club and ski-equipment storage alongside the usual Hyatt Place formula of flexible suites, a 24/7 business center and a heated outdoor pool. It reads as a straightforward upscale select-service play rather than a design statement, but it fills a real gap — south Reno had no equivalent modern branded hotel next to The Summit before it opened. The property also carries genuine event capacity for its size, with three named meeting spaces (Zephyr Room, Silver Dollar Board Room and an outdoor patio), making it a plausible base for small corporate gatherings as well as ski-season leisure stays.

Dining & wellness

The Placery Restaurant offers a curated menu with daily specials and a local beer and alcohol selection, backed by complimentary breakfast and a 24-hour late-night menu; outdoor amenities include a heated covered pool and a patio with fire pits.
