The former Shangri-La Vancouver is becoming Park Hyatt's first hotel in Vancouver, and the brand's second in Canada after Park Hyatt Toronto. The 119-room property already trades as Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni and can be booked through all Hyatt channels while the conversion is prepared.
Hyatt announced the project on 1 July 2025 and expects the redesign to finish in 2026.
The address is 1128 West Georgia Street, in downtown Vancouver. The hotel occupies the lower floors of a 62-storey mixed-use tower developed by Westbank and Peterson, which also holds 307 residential condominiums and ground-level retail.
Rooms look toward the harbour, the coastal mountains and the city skyline, and luxury shopping, restaurants and cultural venues sit nearby. It will be the fifth Hyatt hotel in British Columbia.
The concept
Hyatt describes a multi-million-dollar redesign of the guestrooms, the residential-style lobby, the public spaces and the spa. The hotel keeps its structure and its location; what changes is the interior and the flag.
Scott Richer, vice president of development for Hyatt Canada, said that reimagining the property would let Hyatt expand its luxury portfolio in Canada. A designer has not been named.
Dining & wellness
Carlino, a northern Italian restaurant with daily fresh pasta that the Michelin guide has recommended, has been described as part of the hotel's offer. Whether it stays under the Park Hyatt flag has not been announced, and no other restaurant or bar has been detailed.
