The place
The first 10 floors of the Highline Metrotown tower at 4498 Beresford Street, in Burnaby, immediately next to Metrotown SkyTrain station and the Metropolis at Metrotown mall — marketed by Hyatt as part of the Vancouver market, though the physical address sits just east of the Vancouver city line in Metro Vancouver's Burnaby suburb.
The concept
A new-build hotel occupying the lower floors of a 48-storey mixed-use tower that developer Thind Properties originally planned as office space before pivoting to hotel use amid a weak office market; the hotel volume was later sold to British Columbia operator Mundi Hotel Enterprises for over C$47 million. Chris Dikeakos Architects designed the tower, which carries 327 strata condominiums above the hotel floors. The opening was timed to land ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches in Vancouver: a grand opening event was held on 8 May 2026, with guest reservations accepted from 14 May 2026.

SoBu: The Social Corner serves as the hotel's lounge restaurant, alongside a self-serve hot breakfast bar and a 24/7 convenience store. Guests get 24/7 access to the fitness gym; no pool or spa has been reported.
