The place

The hotel occupies a brand-new tower at 510 Water Street, on the Tampa Riverwalk in the Water Street Tampa district, next to the Tampa Convention Center and Amalie Arena and connected by skybridge to its sister property, Tampa Marriott Water Street.

The concept

Opened as JW Marriott's 100th hotel worldwide, this 519-room tower was built from the ground up as the flagship of Strategic Property Partners' $3.5 billion Water Street Tampa redevelopment, the mixed-use district that reshaped downtown's east side. Floor-to-ceiling windows in every room look out over the bay, the arena, or the city skyline, and the property was built to LEED standards as part of the district's wellness-and-sustainability positioning. With nearly 100,000 square feet of event space, it is designed first for convention and group business tied to the adjacent convention center, and second for leisure travelers drawn to the twin rooftop pools and the Beacon rooftop bar 27 floors up. It is a scale play more than a design statement — Water Street's institutional anchor rather than its boutique outlier.

Dining & wellness

Six food-and-beverage outlets: Beacon Tampa (27th-floor rooftop cocktail bar), SiX Tampa (rooftop restaurant), Driftlight Steakhouse and its adjoining lobby lounge, plus Turntable (grab-and-go) and JW Market café. Spa by JW offers a lounge, ten treatment suites and a retail boutique; two rooftop pools on the sixth floor come with private cabanas.
