The place
Housed in the former Order of the Eastern Star Hall at 2719 K Street in Sacramento's Sutter District/Midtown, a 1928 Romanesque Revival building listed on the National Register of Historic Places that originally served as a Masonic women's meeting hall.
The concept
Hyatt House Sacramento/Midtown is an adaptive-reuse project that turns a century-old fraternal meeting hall into a 128-room extended-stay hotel, with 87 of the rooms fitted with kitchens for longer visits. Developer Hume Development and operator Twenty Four Seven Hotels kept the building's original front doors, plaster work and brick, and repurposed one of its pulpits as the hotel's reception stand, so the extended-stay functionality sits inside a shell that still reads as a 1920s civic building rather than a standard select-service box. The building had been closed to its original fraternal use for years before the conversion, making this a genuinely new hotel operation rather than a rebrand of a prior hotel.
Dining & wellness
Star Lounge, a full-service restaurant and bar on the third floor led by chef Graham Forbes, serves happy hour, craft cocktails and dinner (small plates, burgers, steaks). The hotel also has a 24/7 fitness center and about 700 square feet of meeting space.
