The place
Between 28th and 29th Street on the Virginia Beach oceanfront, currently the 8-story Ramada Plaza by Wyndham, closing after summer 2026 for the renovation.
The concept
A full brand-change conversion: the Ramada Plaza, a mid-market Wyndham property led locally by restaurateur Mike Standing and Commonwealth Lodging Management, will close after summer 2026 for a renovation exceeding $19 million and reopen as an IHG Hotel Indigo, a flag the developers describe as 'upper-upscale lifestyle.' Design Poole, Inc. is drawing on Virginia Beach's culture and character for the interiors, in keeping with Hotel Indigo's locally-inspired design formula. The Virginia Beach City Council approved a $5 million tourism development financing package for the project, funded through a share of local sales tax and a 1% tourism surcharge; the city projects the site's revenue roughly tripling, from about $5M to $15M a year.
Dining & wellness
The renovation is planned to include new dining options, but no restaurant concept, chef or name has been announced yet.
