Autograph Collection Hotel, Stampede Park

Truman broke ground in January 2026 on a 320-room Autograph Collection hotel directly on Calgary's Stampede Park — the first hotel ever built on the grounds and the city's first new full-service convention hotel in more than 25 years. The $330-million, 13-storey tower is the first of three Truman-Marriott hotels planned within the Culture + Entertainment District, alongside W Calgary and JW Marriott Calgary, and is targeted to open in 2028.

The place

The hotel rises on Stampede Park itself, inside Calgary's Culture + Entertainment District, within a five-minute walk of the BMO Centre convention complex — which hosted 327 events in 2025, including 47 first-time conferences. It sits alongside two sibling projects from the same Truman pipeline, W Calgary and JW Marriott Calgary, both located a short distance away at 15th Avenue and Macleod Trail SE; together the three are expected to add more than 700 rooms to the district.

The concept

Announced in mid-2025 and broken ground on January 9, 2026, this 13-storey, 320-key tower is described by Calgary Municipal Land Corporation and Calgary Stampede as the first hotel ever built directly on Stampede Park grounds and the first new full-service, convention-designed hotel built anywhere in Calgary in more than 25 years. Truman is funding and delivering the $330-million project as the first phase of its broader Culture + Entertainment District hotel program, with an official Autograph Collection name still to be announced. Plans call for ballroom and meeting space, a rooftop lounge with downtown views, and a south-facing leisure terrace with a pool, jacuzzi and outdoor bar, plus a separate indoor swimming pool and fitness club. Calgary Stampede executives have said construction is being sequenced to minimize disruption to the ten-day Stampede itself in 2026 and 2027, following the same playbook used during the recent BMO Centre expansion and the neighbouring Scotia Place arena build.

Dining & wellness

The project is planned to include roughly 14,000 square feet of food and beverage space across several restaurants, a lobby bar, a coffee shop and the rooftop lounge, alongside about 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space — none of which has opened yet, and no restaurant operators or chef names have been announced.
