Alt Hotel Calgary University District

Alt Hotel Calgary University District opened in October 2023 as Germain Hotels' third Calgary property and its first hotel built toward LEED certification, adding 155 design-led rooms to the University District.

The place

482 Mclaurin Street NW, in Calgary's University District — a short walk from the University of Calgary, the Alberta Children's Hospital, the Olympic Oval and CF Market Mall.

The concept

A new-build hotel developed with University of Calgary Properties Group, Germain Hotels' 19th property in Canada and third in Calgary, after Le Germain Hotel Calgary (2010) and Alt Hotel East Village (2018). It is the group's first hotel built toward LEED certification (Silver, application pending at opening), sited inside a LEED-ND Platinum-certified community, with locally sourced bath products, Canadian-made beds and local art in the lobby.

Dining & wellness

No dedicated restaurant; the hotel runs a 24-hour complimentary fitness centre and over 4,000 square feet of meeting space across four meeting rooms, two boardrooms and a creative lounge. Rooms are pet-friendly, and the property includes underground parking.
