AC Hotel by Marriott, 901 West Broadway is a planned 151-room hotel redeveloping a former restaurant site across from Vancouver's future Oak-VGH SkyTrain station, aimed squarely at the surrounding Vancouver General Hospital health-care precinct. Developer Hallmark Hospitality secured rezoning in 2021 and filed a refined development permit application in 2024, but no construction start has been reported since, leaving the opening timeline unconfirmed.

The place
The site sits at 901 West Broadway, at the northwest corner of West Broadway and Laurel Street in Vancouver's Central Broadway corridor, immediately north of the future Oak-VGH Station on the Millennium Line extension (slated to open in 2026) and close to Vancouver General Hospital.
The concept
Hallmark Hospitality's development permit application, submitted in February 2024, redevelops the former New India Buffet, Bar and Restaurant building (previously an Earls) into a 12-storey, roughly 93,000-square-foot hotel under Marriott's mid-market AC Hotels brand, up from the 147 rooms approved at rezoning in March 2021 to 151 in the current design. The application describes the hotel as intended to serve Vancouver General Hospital's staff and visitors, the surrounding health-care precinct, and businesses along the Broadway corridor. Zeidler Architecture's design has been reworked since rezoning, carving outdoor balconies into the west facade on levels eight and ten and adding a level-four outdoor patio open to all guests with views over downtown and the North Shore mountains, all wrapped in a multi-layered wood-and-metal facade the architect describes as changing appearance through the day. Height on the site is constrained by the flight path for Vancouver General Hospital's helipad roughly 150 metres away. Hallmark, which already operates several other Western Canada hotels including the Quality Inn & Suites Downtown Vancouver, would add three underground parking levels with 41 vehicle stalls.
Dining & wellness
Plans include a main restaurant, a lounge with a bar and café, and meeting rooms and a fitness gym; no restaurant operator, chef or opening-day program has been disclosed.
