What to do in the Financial District
For a weekend
Start at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, then walk to Battery Park for the free Staten Island Ferry, which passes close enough to the Statue of Liberty for a good photo without paying for a dedicated tour boat. Wall Street itself and the Charging Bull statue are a short walk north — worth a quick stop, not a half-day.
For a longer stay
With more time, cross north into Tribeca for its converted warehouse architecture and restaurant scene, or take the ferry to Governors Island in summer for a genuinely quiet, car-free afternoon a few minutes from the skyline. The Oculus transit hub at the World Trade Center site is worth a walk-through even without catching a train, for the architecture alone.
