Virgin Hotels Dallas

Virgin Hotels opened its third property and first ground-up build in December 2019, staking out the Dallas Design District before the neighborhood's restaurant and gallery scene had fully arrived. The 268-room hotel pairs an industrial, art-driven interior with a fourth-floor rooftop pool club and a Matt McCallister restaurant, betting on a warehouse district rather than downtown Dallas.

The place

The hotel sits at 1445 Turtle Creek Boulevard in the Dallas Design District, a former warehouse and showroom corridor northwest of downtown that was still short on hotel rooms when Virgin broke ground — this was the neighborhood's first. The location bet on the district's ongoing shift from wholesale furniture and art showrooms toward restaurants, galleries and residential development, putting the hotel at the center of that transition rather than in Dallas's already-dense downtown hotel cluster.

The concept

Virgin Hotels Dallas was the brand's third property, following Chicago and San Francisco, and its first ground-up new build rather than an adaptive reuse. Rooms are split into two zones by a sliding door — a lounge area separate from the sleeping space — a layout carried across the brand's other hotels, sized here between roughly 323 and nearly 1,400 square feet for the penthouses. The building leans into an industrial, art-forward register suited to its Design District setting: exposed structure, gallery-style circulation and local art woven through public spaces, aimed at a design-conscious traveler as comfortable working from the room as socializing at Commons Club downstairs.

Dining & wellness

Commons Club anchors the ground floor as an all-day restaurant, bar and social club, housing The Kitchen, a French-inflected seasonal menu from Dallas chef Matt McCallister. Funny Library Coffee Shop serves Laughing Man coffee and pastries for a faster stop. The Pool Club occupies the fourth floor as a rooftop bar and pool deck with an adjoining Secret Garden lounge area, doubling as the hotel's main event and gathering space.
