The place

The hotel is at 560 King Street, on King Street in downtown Charleston. Restaurants, cocktail bars, boutiques and galleries are within walking distance, as are the city's historic landmarks.

It takes its name from the Lowcountry Lowline, a planned linear park and trail in the city. Officials broke ground on the trail in December 2025.

The concept

The building was until recently the Hyatt Place Charleston Historic District. Highline Hospitality Partners, an owner of 17 hotels in the United States, bought it in November 2024 together with the neighbouring Hyatt House and took the Hyatt Place through a full renovation. It reopened on 15 July 2026 as a JdV by Hyatt, the group's collection of independent, neighbourhood-inspired lifestyle hotels, and the first of the brand in South Carolina. The change of flag is real: the Hyatt Place name is gone.

Ealain Studio designed the interiors around Charleston's maritime past and the trade winds that shaped its port. The palette is navy and warm oak. The check-in desk winds across the lobby, with wrought-iron details meant to recall the city's gardens and courtyards. Each of the 197 rooms has a custom headboard embroidered with sandhill cranes and a marble beverage cabinet with brass hardware.

The hotel has an indoor pool, a fitness centre, valet parking and Sterling Hall, nearly 8,000 square feet of event space for weddings and meetings.

Dining & wellness

Leeward is the restaurant, with a patio, serving Lowcountry cooking from early cocktails to late evening. The Long Game at Leeward is a reservable private room with a golf simulator and large screens. Lowline Spirited Coffee & Provisions pours coffee from the Savannah roaster PERC and sells grab-and-go food, and Pour Taproom, on the roof, serves local and regional beers with a view of the skyline. The hotel runs a Martini Hour at 4 p.m. and a Snack Hour at 11 p.m. The opening release names no chef.
