The place
1100 Liberty Avenue, inside The Pennsylvanian, in downtown Pittsburgh, directly connected to the city's Amtrak stop.
The concept
The Pennsylvanian is Daniel Burnham's Beaux-Arts former Pennsylvania Railroad Station, built 1898–1904; its rotunda and office block were converted into 241 residential apartments in 1988, decades after the building stopped serving intercity passengers from its main hall (Amtrak still calls at a modest depot to the rear). Placemakr, the furnished short-term-stay operator, added a hospitality wing alongside the building's existing unfurnished residential leases — kitchen-equipped studio, one- and two-bedroom units with weekly housekeeping for longer stays, managed on-site by New York-based Acram Group. Hospitality-style bookings began in the second quarter of 2025. The building totals 240-plus units split between the furnished hospitality wing and unfurnished residential leases; press coverage doesn't break out how many belong to the hospitality side specifically, left unconfirmed here rather than guessed.
Dining & wellness
No dedicated restaurant has been announced for the hospitality wing; the building's Grand Hall, a historic event and wedding venue, is also operated by Placemakr.
