The place

250 North Main Street, on the Mississippi riverfront in downtown Memphis, connected by skywalk to the Renasant Convention Center and a short walk from Beale Street.

The concept

An 18-story, 600-room tower built in 1983-1985 with taxpayer financing ($10 million in state loans plus $23.5 million in tax-free bonds), designed from the outset to anchor conventions downtown. The building operated successively as the Crowne Plaza Memphis Downtown (1985-1998), Marriott Memphis Downtown (1998-2013) and Sheraton Memphis Downtown (2013-2026) before the City of Memphis bought it for $22 million in November 2025 and dropped the Sheraton flag in February 2026, reopening as the independent Memphis Riverline Hotel under Davidson Hospitality Group management, with Marriott Bonvoy points still earned and redeemed. A phased renovation is planned for 2027-2029.

Dining & wellness

Crossroads Tavern and Grille serves American food with local Memphis touches in the lobby, alongside a Starbucks and The Library, a speakeasy-style pizza bar. The hotel also has an indoor pool, a fitness center, a business center and 13 meeting rooms.
