Hyatt Centric is bringing its lifestyle brand to Western Canada for the first time with a 140-room hotel carved out of a vacant six-storey office building on Broadway in downtown Winnipeg. Developed by the Kothari Group with public backing from the province and city, it's positioned as an adaptive-reuse anchor between The Forks and the Legislature, confirmed to open in 2026.

The place

In the heart of downtown Winnipeg at 325 Broadway, between The Forks and the Manitoba Legislative Building, and within walking distance of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and Canada Life Centre. The hotel occupies a previously vacant six-storey office building rather than a new-build tower.

The concept

Hyatt Centric Winnipeg Downtown will be the Hyatt Centric brand's first hotel in Western Canada and only its second in the country after Montréal. Developed by the Kothari Group as a roughly $38.6-million adaptive-reuse project, it converts a vacant six-storey downtown office building into a 140-room lifestyle hotel built around a dramatic central atrium, with local artwork, textiles and design details worked into the interiors. The project received public financing from both the Manitoba government and the City of Winnipeg, part of a stated push to bring genuinely new hotel capacity — not another rebrand — into the downtown core. The timeline has moved: initial 2023-era announcements pointed to a 2025 opening, and more recent coverage puts the target at 2026, so travelers should treat the date as firm in intent but not yet locked to a specific month.

Dining & wellness

Plans call for a signature restaurant, a lounge, a coffee shop, a spa and a fitness centre, plus roughly 1,200 square feet of meeting space. Outlet names, chefs and a confirmed opening date for food and beverage service are still to be confirmed.
