The place
15 Lakelands Boulevard, in the Bayers Lake commercial park, roughly 15 minutes' drive from downtown Halifax and the waterfront — a suburban conference-and-retail hub rather than the city centre.
The concept
A new-build property next to an existing Comfort Hotel on the same site, independently owned by Stephanie Giannoulis and operated under Choice Hotels Canada's Ascend Hotel Collection soft brand. Rooms range from standard king/queen configurations to whirlpool suites over 500 square feet with kitchenettes and living space; select deluxe rooms add fireplaces and two-person whirlpool tubs.
Dining & wellness
Le Rouge, a 180-seat on-site restaurant, serves lunch and dinner. The hotel also has an indoor heated pool, hot tub and fitness centre.
