TPI Hospitality bought the 25-year-old Staybridge Suites Naples-Gulf Coast, an IHG extended-stay property, and converted it starting in mid-2023 into the first all-suite hotel in the Compass by Margaritaville collection, reopening in March 2024. It's a conversion rather than a ground-up build: new island-themed architectural elements went in, the rooftop cupola and dormers came off, and the façade and roof were recolored, but the underlying suite layouts — open-concept studios up to one- and two-bedroom units with full kitchens — carry over from the building's extended-stay past. That makes it a genuine fit for families and longer-stay leisure travelers who want Margaritaville's laid-back branding without a full resort footprint or price tag.
5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill is the signature Margaritaville-branded restaurant and bar. A daily complimentary hot breakfast, an outdoor pool with fire tables and live entertainment, a 24/7 fitness center, a cornhole and backyard games area and a beach shuttle round out the amenities; there is no spa.

I recently wrapped up a wonderful two-day stay at the Compass Hotel by Margaritaville Naples and had a very pleasant experience overall. I stayed in a King Studio Suite, which was impeccably clean, properly maintained, and offered a really generous amount of space to relax. While the mattress itself was highly comfortable, the pillows were a letdown. Every single pillow provided was extra soft and lacked any real neck support.
One architectural detail worth noting is that I only noticed one elevator on-site. While it wasn't an issue during my brief visit, it could potentially lead to wait times when the hotel is operating at maximum capacity.
The daily complimentary breakfast offered an impressive variety of options, including scrambled eggs, sausages, cottage cheese, and a great selection of breads. I was also very pleased to see dairy-free milk alternatives like oat and soy milk available for cereal.
The outdoor pool area is clearly the heart of the property. It was consistently popular, with plenty of guests enjoying the water over both days of my visit. The evening live music in the pool compound created a wonderfully relaxing, tropical atmosphere. While I didn't get a chance to eat dinner at the 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, it was visibly busy and full of energy every single time I walked past it.
Honestly, this was the best hotel we could have chosen for spending a relaxing week in Naples. From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcome, and our entire stay exceeded our expectations.
The room was a good size and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It included a refrigerator with a freezer and a microwave, which was very convenient. Our room did not have an oven, but that wasn’t an issue for us. The beds were extremely comfortable, and even the sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable and perfectly fine for sleeping.
One of the highlights was the complimentary breakfast, which is included for guests. There was a great variety of both sweet and savory options, so everyone can find something they enjoy. Everything was fresh and delicious.
The service was outstanding. Every staff member we interacted with was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. Our room was always clean and well maintained.
The hotel also has a restaurant and bar with food, drinks, and cocktails. Another nice touch was the complimentary coffee and tea station, and every afternoon they put out snacks like brownies and cookies for guests to enjoy.
There is also a small shop in the lobby where you can buy ice cream, drinks, iced coffee, snacks, souvenirs, keychains, bracelets, and even hotel merchandise.
The amenities are excellent. There is a perfect equipped fitness center on the second floor, as well as complimentary guest laundry with both washing machines and dryers. An ice machine is available on the third floor.
For beach days, the hotel provides complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels every day, which was incredibly convenient. Free parking is another great benefit.
Overall, this hotel offers amazing value for the price. Between the outstanding service, comfortable accommodations, thoughtful amenities, and relaxing atmosphere, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. We would absolutely choose this hotel again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Naples.

Overall, our stay was enjoyable, but there were two issues that should not be overlooked.
During breakfast, there was no microwave available for guests, so my mother-in-law slightly opened the employee door and politely said, “Hello,” to get someone’s attention so we could warm up milk to make hot chocolate. We never entered or attempted to enter the employees-only area—we were simply asking for assistance.
Instead of offering to help, Ketta aggressively pushed the door toward my face and told us we were not allowed back there. I immediately asked her not to do that and told her that I speak English. She never apologized or asked if we needed assistance.
Moments later, Elizabeth Martinez came out, politely asked how she could help, and gladly warmed our milk. Her professionalism demonstrated exactly how the situation should have been handled from the beginning.
I later spoke with Manager Trista, who apologized but seemed focused on the assumption that we were trying to enter the restricted area. I explained that this was never the case—we were simply trying to get someone’s attention because there was no microwave available for guests.
Although the hotel appeared clean overall, we found a cockroach in our room and another of similar size near the elevator during our stay. I have included a photo because this is something management should be aware of.
Everything else about our stay was enjoyable, but these issues left a lasting impression. I hope management takes this feedback seriously by providing better customer service training and addressing the pest concern so future guests have a better experience.
