The hotel sits at 165 NW Park Ave in the Pearl District, directly facing Portland's North Park Blocks, a chain of narrow parks dating to the 1850s — making it, per the developer, the only hotel actually sited on the Park Blocks themselves.
The concept
This six-story, newly built property, developed by HighSide Development with Baskervill handling both architecture and interiors, marked Choice Hotels' first Cambria in the Pacific Northwest — the company broke ground on this hotel and a sister property in Hillsboro on the same day in May 2023. Cambria is Choice's design-forward upscale brand, positioned a notch above its economy and midscale chains, and the Pearl District location leans into that with design-forward furnishings and spa-inspired bathrooms rather than a standard branded-hotel room template.
The location does double duty for both audiences the brand is chasing: leisure travelers get a walkable, gallery-and-restaurant-dense neighborhood, while the 1.2-mile proximity to the Oregon Convention Center and 1,350 square feet of flexible meeting space give it a business-travel angle too.

Recess, the hotel's in-house restaurant and bar, serves Pacific Northwest-inspired dishes and craft cocktails from morning through evening. Rooms include spa-inspired bathrooms, and the hotel adds a fitness studio, a small marketplace for snacks and essentials, and pet-friendly accommodations.
