Coming soon in Windsor

Windsor is built around its castle (the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world, and a working royal residence) on the Thames a half-hour train ride from central London. This guide currently tracks one project: Soho House's conversion of Oakley Court, a 400-year-old mansion on the river a few miles from the castle, into Soho River House Windsor.

What to do in Windsor

A short visit

Windsor Castle's State Apartments and St George's Chapel, burial place of several English monarchs, anchor the town, a short walk from the Thames and from Eton College across the river bridge. The Long Walk, a tree-lined avenue running south from the castle into the Great Park, makes for an easy afternoon stroll.

A longer stay

With more time, Legoland Windsor is a popular family day out a few miles from the town centre, and the Thames Path offers longer riverside walks toward Maidenhead and beyond.

Where to stay in Windsor

Soho River House Windsor, targeting late 2027, is planned inside Oakley Court, a neo-Gothic mansion on the Thames near Windsor. It will be Soho House's first Racquet & Rowing Club: tennis, padel, pickleball and river access alongside a Soho Health Club, restaurants and bars, and 93 bedrooms. As with other Soho House properties, full club access is reserved for members, though the bedrooms will be bookable by hotel guests.
