The place
The hotel replaces the earthquake-damaged former Noah's Hotel tower beside Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, with frontage onto the Avon River in the heart of the central city.
The concept
Mainland Capital and Russell Property Group signed with Marriott International to bring Sheraton to New Zealand for the first time, redeveloping a 1970s tower left vacant since the 2011 Canterbury earthquakes into a NZD 150m-plus, 14-storey hotel targeting five-star Green Star certification — a sustainability credential rare among hotel rebuilds in the country.
