Radisson RED Edgbaston Stadium
A pitch-facing Radisson RED rising inside Edgbaston Stadium's £42m redevelopment, targeted for the 2027 Ashes
Announced · Summer 2027
Radisson RED is building a 146-room hotel inside Edgbaston Stadium's £42 million redevelopment, with 85 rooms facing directly onto the cricket pitch via private balconies and a rooftop restaurant planned for the fourth floor. Main contractor Sisk began work in 2026, backed by a £17.3 million West Midlands Combined Authority loan, with completion targeted for the men's Ashes Test in summer 2027.

The place
Built into Edgbaston Stadium, Warwickshire County Cricket Club's home ground in Edgbaston, southwest of Birmingham city centre.
The concept
The hotel is the centrepiece of a £42 million redevelopment of Edgbaston Stadium that also replaces the venue's 70-year-old Raglan and Priory stands with a new 3,300-seat stand. Sisk was appointed main contractor and began work in early 2026 after the stand demolition, with a £17.3 million loan from the West Midlands Combined Authority helping fund the scheme and Birmingham City Council backing planning permission in February 2025. Of the 146 rooms, 85 face directly onto the pitch with private balconies, and 18 of those are designed to convert into hospitality suites on match days — a format built explicitly around the cricket calendar rather than a standalone city hotel.
Dining & wellness
Plans include a rooftop restaurant and bar on the fourth floor, opening onto a 160-square-metre terrace with panoramic views over the Birmingham skyline and the ground; none of this has opened yet, and no restaurant operator or chef has been named.
