The Grand Hotel Birmingham reopened in May 2021 after a roughly £50 million restoration, following almost 20 years closed. The 185-room landmark, originally built in 1879, has two restaurants — brasserie Isaac's and Parisian-styled bar Madeleine — and a restored Grand Ballroom.

The concept
Originally opened in 1879 by Isaac Horton to designs by Thomson Plevins, the hotel closed in 2002 and sat under scaffolding for roughly two decades before a full restoration reopened it in May 2021. The Grand Ballroom, the building's original centerpiece event space, has been restored alongside new meeting rooms and collaboration areas.
Dining & wellness
Isaac's, a city-centre brasserie named for the hotel's founder serving British comfort food with French flair; and Madeleine, a Parisian-styled champagne and cocktail bar that also serves afternoon tea.
