Radisson Hotel York opened under its new flag in April 2023, replacing the Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre in the same eight-story riverside building. It has 200 rooms and meeting space for up to 400 people.
The hotel sits on the banks of the River Ouse in the city centre. A 2011 announcement put it five minutes from York station, and York Minster and The Shambles are about ten minutes away on foot.
The concept
The tower dates from 1969 and had operated as a Park Inn by Radisson. The 2023 conversion to the group's core Radisson flag made it the first Radisson-branded hotel in the north of England and the second in the United Kingdom. It is the second-tallest building in York after the Minster.
The renovation brought new flooring and furniture, self-service check-in desks and new decor drawing on the brand's Scandinavian roots. An earlier phase of work in 2011 had already refitted the guest rooms, which at the time came as Standard, Riverview and Business Friendly categories. Those categories may have changed since the rebrand.
The conference offer is substantial for the city. Flexible meeting and function rooms can host events of up to 400 people, and a 2011 release counted 13 meeting rooms.
Dining & wellness
The Paddle Room is the hotel restaurant, serving sharing plates alongside pub classics, with several vegetarian and vegan dishes. A coffee shop and a bar complete the on-site food and drink.
