The place
The hotel occupies 1699 South Palm Canyon Drive, on the commercial corridor about two miles south of downtown Palm Springs, previously the address of the Vagabond Inn Palm Springs, a roadside motor lodge that has since closed. It is a drive-up, motor-court setting rather than a walkable downtown location, in keeping with the original property's function as a highway motel.
The concept
Palihotel Palm Springs is an adaptive-reuse conversion of the former Vagabond Inn, one of 16 Palisociety properties added to Marriott's Design Hotels collection in 2026, in what Design Hotels has called the largest single portfolio expansion in its history, with the group's hotels rolling into the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program beginning June 22, 2026. Palisociety, founded by Avi Brosh, built its reputation on converting overlooked motor lodges and mid-century buildings into design-forward, neighborhood-driven hotels rather than building new; Palihotel, the group's mid-tier brand, has followed that formula in cities including San Diego. The Palm Springs property is planned as a 116-room conversion of the existing motor-lodge structure, positioning it as a lifestyle alternative to the desert's resort-style hotels.
Dining & wellness
Dining, bar and pool details have not yet been announced ahead of the property's opening.
