Lucille Palm Springs

A 1921 Spanish Revival compound formerly known as The Andalusian Court reopened in 2023 under new ownership as Lucille — nine self-catered bungalows and studios around a central pool in downtown Palm Springs. The rebrand trades on the property's history as a haunt of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, but the substance is a full renovation of the original architecture rather than a name change alone.

The place

Lucille sits at 458 West Arenas Road, on the quiet residential fringe of downtown Palm Springs, a short walk from the restaurants of the Arenas Road entertainment district and the mid-century showrooms of the Uptown Design District. The scale is deliberately small: a walled compound of bungalows and studios wrapped around a central pool, closer in feel to a private residence than a resort.

The concept

The building dates to 1921 and spent decades as The Andalusian Court, a Spanish Revival property whose regulars, according to the hotel, included Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. New owners took over in June 2023, closed the property for a renovation that ran through the summer, and reopened it under the Lucille name later that year, with Alfredo Izaguirre managing the relaunch. The redesign preserved the original Spanish Revival architecture, arched doorways and tiled rooflines while rebuilding the nine units as self-catered suites, each with a kitchenette and a private outdoor jacuzzi tub. The result reads closer to a design-conscious long-weekend rental than a conventional hotel stay, with no lobby scene and no full-service ambitions.

Dining & wellness

There is no restaurant on site. A central pool with San Jacinto Mountain views anchors the property, every bungalow has its own outdoor jacuzzi, and a complimentary continental breakfast of cappuccinos, lattes and pastries is served each morning. In-room kitchenettes, stocked with a stove, microwave and refrigerator, let guests self-cater for the rest of the day.
