The concept

The Mtn Scout Truckee broke ground on June 25, 2025 and is reported as the first upper-upscale, full-service hotel in Truckee — most of the town's existing lodging skews toward mid-market and budget chains. San Luis Obispo-based Andrew Goodwin Designs is the architect, with interiors and branding by Sixteenfifty Creative Intelligence; the firm's founder has described the project as built around 'regionalism first' rather than an imported mountain-lodge template. It will be managed by PM Hotel Group and join Marriott Bonvoy's Tribute Portfolio, a soft brand with no in-house design standard to follow.

Dining & wellness

Plans include a lobby-level restaurant and bar, an outdoor gathering area with fire pits, courtyard hot tubs, an event hall with a garden and patios, and Tunnel 6, a third-floor whiskey bar and lounge named for the summit tunnel built near Truckee for the transcontinental railroad. None of these venues has opened yet and no restaurant operator or chef has been named.
