Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe is the former Harveys Lake Tahoe, a casino resort of 742 rooms and suites in Stateline, Nevada. Caesars Entertainment rebranded it on July 1, 2025 and finished the $160 million renovation in mid-2026, with a ribbon-cutting attended by Lisa Vanderpump, a longtime partner of the company. The hotel is owned by VICI Properties and operated by Caesars. Together with the neighbouring Harrah's Lake Tahoe, Caesars offers nearly 1,250 rooms on the South Shore.

The place

The resort stands in Stateline, on the Nevada side of the line with South Lake Tahoe, California, kitty-corner from the original Caesars Tahoe, now Harrah's Lake Tahoe. It sits on Highway 50, the road that originally brought gamblers over the Sierra.

The South Shore casinos are a short drive from the lake beaches and the Heavenly ski area, which makes the resort a base in both summer and winter.

The concept

Harvey Gross and his wife Llewellyn opened it in 1944 as a one-room log cabin with a six-stool lunch counter, three slot machines, two blackjack tables and the only gas pump open around the clock between Placerville and Carson City. An 11-story, 197-room tower followed in 1963.

On August 27, 1980, an extortionist, John Birges, planted a bomb that went off in the building and destroyed three floors. No one was hurt, parts of the casino reopened within 48 hours and the hotel was fully back in May 1981. The Lake Tower opened in 1986 and the property became Harveys. Harrah's Entertainment bought the company in 2001 for $625 million, and in 2017 the real estate moved to VICI Properties, with Caesars as tenant.

The conversion to Caesars Republic, the group's lifestyle brand, runs to a redesigned lobby, a refreshed 87,500 square feet of casino floor with new slots and table games, redone poker and high-limit areas, and a renovated Caesars Sportsbook. All rooms in the Remus Tower were remodeled and butler service was added to select suites in both towers.

Dining & wellness

Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen and WOLF by Vanderpump anchor the dining lineup. Tessie's Cocktails & Chords was developed with Clique Hospitality, and Cleo's is a coffee concept that turns into a cocktail lounge in the evening. Centro and Celeste are bars on the casino level, and the High Dive Pool & Lounge covers the pool area.

July 7, 2026: Caesars Entertainment celebrated the opening of Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe with a ribbon-cutting featuring Lisa Vanderpump, completing the multi-phase transformation of the former Harveys Lake Tahoe. The work covered a redesigned lobby, an updated casino floor, renovated guest rooms, new slots and table games, redesigned poker and high-limit areas and a renovated Caesars Sportsbook. Dining includes WOLF by Vanderpump, Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen, Tessie's Cocktails & Chords and Cleo's.

July 1, 2025: Harveys Lake Tahoe was rebranded Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe at the start of a $160 million renovation, after 81 years under the Harveys name. Caesars planned to finish the work in mid-2026.

You know those “Do Not Disturb” door hangers that keep housekeeping from entering your room? At this hotel, you probably won’t need one. Despite repeated requests, no one came to our room at all. I really wanted to like this hotel. The location is excellent, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. Unfortunately, the service was a major disappointment. Our room had several problems. The shower door would not close, causing water to run onto the bathroom floor. Several lights were not working, and housekeeping had not serviced the room. I requested housekeeping twice. I called the front desk, but no one answered. I then went to the front desk in person that morning and was assured maintenance and housekeeping would take care of everything. We intentionally stayed out of our room for much of the day to give them access. When we returned around 3:00 PM, absolutely nothing had been done. I had even left a $20 cash tip on the bed for housekeeping. It was still sitting there untouched, confirming that no one had entered the room. I called the front desk again and again received no answer. I returned to the front desk in person, explained the situation, and was once again assured everything would be taken care of. By approximately 5:00 PM, there was still no sign of maintenance or housekeeping. What frustrated me most wasn’t that repairs were needed—those things happen at every hotel. It was the repeated assurances that the issues would be addressed, causing us to plan our day around being out of the room, only to find that nothing had been done. The front desk employees were polite and seemed sincere, but somewhere between the front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance, communication completely broke down. This hotel has an excellent location and exceptionally comfortable beds, but the lack of follow-through on basic guest service overshadowed what could have been a very enjoyable stay. I hope management addresses the communication between the front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance, because the property itself has a great deal of potential.

I travel and gamble around the world and this is an excellent venue in a beautiful Historic Resort town. The improvements for the grand opening are very nice. We use the pool and steam room and some of the new restaurants and all of them were excellent. Parking was easy. We were able to see Rascal Flatts just walking out the back door. And we also were able to golf at Edgewood which is one of the nicest courses I've ever seen. We had a couple little room problems but when we called then in people fixed them right away

Room over looked parking garage. Elevator broken so had to take escalator up to floor where different elevators did work. No water for shower as handle was broken. Slow drain sick as plug handle didn't move up n down. Leg for mini refrigerator broken off so when you opened door it, it almost fell out on floor! We called to complain yet constantly busy signal on phone so no one ever answered front desk, nor housekeeping, or anywhere! Ended up having to actually go back down stairs to complain and demand a different room!!!! New room has running water along with mold!!! Asked about concert rhat we had come to be at if it was an outside or indoor concert. Their reply was.... they didn't know Never ever ever come here again!!! OR, even WONT recoment it. Its a disaster and overpiced!! $340 Then they tack on extra like resort fees $35, when there's NO resort of anything to use to enjoy, add to that a $50 Valet price, so when you count everything that over $400 for 1 night of disastrous conditions. I want a refund!!! Even if i did split fee with room mate. ...

Wheelchair user review. Upon arrival to parking garage the handicap spots are on the 3rd floor which would be ok but the entrance by them doesn't have a working elevator. So instead have to go to the parking garage elevators which doors don't have buttons and are narrow. From there have to travel across the street not to sidewalk because it doesn't go down to lobby without stairs. Instead have to drive over speed bump down thru valet area to get in. Room was clean n aesthetically nice just in no ways was handicapped accessible. The toilet had no bars around to, couldn't face toilet or shower with chair, the shower had a tiny triangle seat that's way too low to sit on. Then at 5am construction started with loud vibration thru the room almost sounding like a jackhammer waking you up. I've been to Caesars properties in Colorado, Las Vegas and reno and some best westerns but this was by far the worst experience for a wheelchair user. Do not recommend

We chose this hotel mainly because of the pool, especially for our child. As parents, when we stay at a casino hotel, we try to spend extra time with our child at the pool and family-friendly facilities, so the pool was a major factor in our decision. Unfortunately, after checking in, we learned that the pool was closed due to construction and that guests had to use the pool at Harrah's instead. While there may have been notices about the closure, we were not aware of it during the booking process. Had we known in advance, we likely would have chosen a different hotel. There was also significant construction taking place throughout the property, including areas of the lobby and casino. The casino and lobby felt unusually warm during our stay, which made the experience less comfortable. The staff were polite, but I believe the hotel should provide clearer and more prominent notice regarding major construction projects and the closure of key amenities such as the pool. This would help guests, especially families traveling with children, make informed decisions before booking. Yesterday, I heard another guest complaining in the elevator that they paid $400 a night and there was no soap in the bathroom. I thought it could happen, but this morning when I tried to shower, there was no shampoo at all. Housekeeping didn’t answer the phone either. On top of that, my friend found a dead cockroach in his room this morning that wasn’t there at check-in.
