Mövenpick Hotel Wellington
Swiss chocolate ritual meets five-star city views on Wellington's Terrace.
Open · July 2022
Accor brought its Swiss Mövenpick brand to Wellington in July 2022, opening a 114-room five-star hotel on The Terrace overlooking the Cuba Quarter. The property pairs conventional upscale-hotel amenities — pool, sauna, eight meeting rooms — with the brand's trademark daily Chocolate Hour.

The place
The hotel sits at 345 The Terrace, on the upper edge of the CBD looking down over the Cuba Quarter redevelopment, a short walk from Te Papa museum, Cuba Street's galleries and the waterfront.
The concept
Mövenpick Hotel Wellington was Accor's second New Zealand debut for the Swiss hospitality brand in 2022, opening just weeks after its Auckland sibling as part of a coordinated national launch. The 114-room, five-star property brought Mövenpick's signature culinary heritage to the capital, anchored by a daily 'Chocolate Hour' in the lobby where pastry staff hand-craft truffles and treats for guests — a format the brand has used worldwide to differentiate itself from generic upscale-chain competitors. Rooms run from Superior King to Executive King and a Superior Family Suite, finished in what the brand describes as gilded, textured tones, with harbour or city views depending on floor. The hotel positions itself as a business-and-leisure hybrid: eight meeting rooms for the government and corporate crowd drawn to nearby Parliament and the CBD, alongside pool, sauna and gym facilities aimed at longer leisure stays.
Dining & wellness
Forage Kitchen + Bar serves New Zealand-inspired breakfast and dinner menus with city views; the hotel also runs an indoor heated pool, sauna and fitness facilities, plus eight event spaces for up to 180 guests. The daily Chocolate Hour is the property's signature amenity.
