Hotel Indigo Gloucester opened on 24 March 2026 inside The Forum, a £107m mixed-use development in the city's Kings Quarter. With 129 rooms, a rooftop bar overlooking the cathedral and a glass skybridge event space, it is billed as the city's first boutique hotel.
4 Cathedral Walk, at the heart of The Forum, a £107m mixed-use scheme in the Kings Quarter, a short walk from Gloucester Cathedral and the city centre.
The concept
A new-build Hotel Indigo, developed by Reef as the anchor of The Forum, itself part of the wider £200m Kings Square regeneration that also brings a University of Gloucestershire city-centre campus. Interiors follow IHG's neighbourhood-storytelling formula around three local themes: tailoring and pin-making (oversized pin bedside lights, pink velvet headboards), the historic docks (maritime motifs, greys and bottle green) and Roman Gloucester (mosaic references drawn from finds made during the site's archaeology). The 13th-century White Friars religious house found beneath the development is another source of inspiration. A 44-tonne glass and steel skybridge houses a private event space.
Dining & wellness
Crimson Spire is the rooftop bar, billed as Gloucester's first, with views of the cathedral. West Window is the ground-floor all-day bistro, and Terraé is a café serving Change Please Coffee, which donates its profits to people experiencing homelessness. The Bridge, the skybridge space, hosts private events.
