Hôtel Corbin

Hôtel Corbin, a new 45-room hotel in Quebec City's Old Port, opened in early June 2026 behind the retained street facade of a building demolished in 2021. The opening arrives amid an unresolved legal dispute: developer Nicolas Paradis was held in contempt of court in 2025 for building the six-storey hotel three storeys above a court-ordered height cap protecting a neighbouring view easement, and as of July 2026 neighbours are pursuing demolition of the excess floors.

The concept

Hôtel Corbin is a genuine new construction rather than a renovation — the building that previously stood on the site was demolished in 2021, with only its rue Saint-Paul street facade preserved before developer Nicolas Paradis, through his company G. Paradis, built the hotel behind and above it. That fact sits alongside a live legal dispute that cannot be separated from the hotel's story: a 2022 Quebec Superior Court ruling capped construction on the site at three storeys to protect a neighbouring condo owners' view easement over the port and river, but the developer built six storeys instead. A judge held Paradis in contempt of court in March 2025, his appeal was rejected in October 2025, and as of the most recent reporting (July 2026, the same month the hotel opened) neighbours are actively pursuing demolition of the storeys built beyond the court-ordered limit, alongside $100,000 in punitive damages. The rooms range from lofts and studios to suites and full apartments with kitchenettes or full kitchens, aimed at both short stays and extended visits.

Dining & wellness

Les Clandestins, an on-site themed restaurant and performance-dinner concept, operates in the building; the hotel also has a rooftop terrace. No spa or additional dining venues have been confirmed.
