Hôtel Boutique Ophelia

Hôtel Boutique Ophelia opened in July 2022 on Grande Allée, turning the century-old former home of painter Jean-Paul Lemieux into a six-room hideaway above two of the street's known restaurant addresses. Owners Fabio Monti, Jonathan Ollat and Patrice Plante built something closer to an upscale guesthouse than a conventional hotel — small, design-forward, and inseparable from the kitchen downstairs. It suits travelers who want a serious restaurant table attached to their room key.

The place

Hôtel Boutique Ophelia sits at 640 Grande Allée Est in Montcalm, on the same restaurant-lined strip as Hôtel Maurice, a few minutes' walk from the Plaines d'Abraham and the walls of Old Quebec.

The concept

The hotel occupies a century-old building that once belonged to Jean-Paul Lemieux, one of Quebec's most celebrated painters, converted for the first time into a six-room boutique hotel by owners Fabio Monti, Jonathan Ollat and Patrice Plante. It opened officially on July 21, 2022, above the restaurant Ophelia (operating on the ground floor since 2017) and Bistro l'Atelier. The renovation pairs the building's historic cachet — the property markets itself on its centenaire character — with a contemporary fit-out; the signature Prestige Grande Allée Suite takes an entire floor with custom Quebec-made furniture.

Dining & wellness

Guests have access to two in-house restaurants: Ophelia, a land-and-sea menu built around dry-aged Angus beef and grilled octopus, and Bistro l'Atelier next door. A dinner-and-overnight package bundles a table at Ophelia with a room.
