The place

Located at 123 Duke Street in Ropewalks, Liverpool's warehouse-and-nightlife district named for its 18th-century rope-making trade, a few minutes' walk from Albert Dock.

The concept

The Halyard marked the UK debut of IHG's Vignette Collection, the group's soft-luxury lifestyle brand for independently minded hotels, and was designed by Ica Studio around the site's rope-making history — its name is itself a nautical term for the knot used to hoist a sail. Interiors mix industrial textures evoking 18th-century mercantile warehouses with playful, colourful touches referencing Liverpool's music and art scenes, including nods to the city's Meccano toy heritage. Top-floor rooms open onto rooftop terraces with panoramic views, and the opening — marked with a rope-cutting ceremony rather than a ribbon — drew national press coverage from Metro, the Mirror, the Express and The Times, positioning it as one of IHG's more design-led UK launches.

Dining & wellness

The hotel includes a fitness suite with a rooftop terrace and meeting rooms; specific food-and-beverage outlets were not independently confirmed beyond the general facilities described in opening coverage.
