Gravity Haus Big Sky
The old River Rock Lodge reopened as a members' clubhouse with 29 rooms, a taqueria and a cold plunge, pitched as the affordable end of a very expensive valley
Open · July 2025
Gravity Haus opened its first Montana location in mid-July 2025, taking over and fully renovating the former River Rock Lodge in Big Sky's Town Center. The 29 rooms sit above the Terrain Taco taqueria and Unravel Coffee, alongside a sauna, cold plunge, hot tub and coworking floor shared with the brand's monthly members.

The place
The hotel occupies the former River Rock Lodge in Big Sky's Town Center, the commercial heart of the valley rather than a slopeside position — a walkable base among the shops and restaurants, several minutes' drive from the lifts.
The concept
Gravity Haus is a Colorado outfit that runs hotels and a membership club together in mountain towns from Vail and Breckenridge to Revelstoke, and Big Sky is its first Montana location. It bought the River Rock Lodge, renovated it completely and reopened it in mid-July 2025 under its own name — a genuine change of flag on a building that had traded for years under the previous identity. The positioning is what chief executive Jim Deters calls approachable luxury: casual enough that ski gear and gym clothes are the dress code, deliberately open to locals rather than sealed off for guests, and priced against a valley where the alternatives are the Montage and the One&Only. Memberships run $200 a month for individuals, $140 under 27 and $400 for families, with initiation fees, a twelve-month commitment and a 50% room discount across the group's dozen-plus properties. The 29 rooms are pet-friendly and come with a foam roller, a yoga mat and an exercise towel — a small detail that says most of what the brand is trying to be.
Dining & wellness
Two outlets, both open to the town. Terrain Taco runs from 11am to 10pm on tacos and margaritas, and Unravel Coffee serves ethically sourced coffee and breakfast from 7am to 11am. The wellness and social offer is where the money has gone: a fitness centre, a cold plunge, a sauna and a hot tub, plus a coworking floor with hot desks and conference tables, and a programme of community events built around adventure sport.
