The place
Element Colorado Springs Downtown occupies a new seven-story building at the corner of South Tejon Street and East Costilla Street, in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. The tower was built new for this dual-branded project, sharing its structure with a separate SpringHill Suites property.
The concept
Construction on the corner of Tejon and Costilla began in June 2019, and after three years of delays tied largely to the pandemic, developers Olive Real Estate Group and Colarelli Construction, with operator Hotel Equities, opened Element Colorado Springs Downtown on June 23, 2022. It is the extended-stay half of a dual-branded property that also houses a SpringHill Suites, reportedly the first pairing of the two Marriott brands anywhere.
Element is Marriott's sustainability-oriented, upscale extended-stay brand, and the downtown property follows that formula with in-room kitchens, 'Studio Commons' layouts that cluster several rooms around a shared living and working space, and an EV charging station: aimed more at longer corporate stays and business travelers than at leisure boutique-seekers.
Dining & wellness
The eighth-floor Lumen8 Rooftop Social serves regionally inspired food and drink with mountain views, and the ground-floor Sportsbook Bar & Grill covers casual dining. A complimentary hot breakfast is included, and the hotel has an indoor pool, whirlpool spa and a 24-hour fitness center.
