Our take The Bramall Lane address is doing all the work — a straightforward DoubleTree product distinguished mainly by matchday proximity rather than by anything in the design or dining program.

Not sure how long this has been open, but it feels somewhat new. The room was generally very nice, the mattresses comfortable and the bathroom clean and modern. Unlike the DoubleTree in Milton Keynes, this wasn't built into the stadium, but along side, meaning no pitch views (if that's what you're after). I found the pillows big but offered no support, just crumpled to nothing when my head hit. The shower control was broken, but these were the only downsides.
The restaurant was nice. They did try to charge extra for the fries, which was printed as coming with the burger (corrected once we showed the menu) and they overstated how much dining credit remained when trying to get us to have dessert. Still, minor quibbles and the waiter may have been new.
The staff in general were extremely helpful, polite and professional.
I can't comment on the location, because it's entirely dependent on where you need to be and what you want to do. It's about a 15m walk to the centre of the city. Parking is quite steep, but Google doesn't like specific prices being shown.
The room was finished to an impeccably high spec. The bathroom was genuinely lovely, featuring a shower that actually understands water pressure, and the TV was high spec enough to practically do my taxes.
The air con was a little on the warm side—presumably an intentional feature designed to acclimatise guests for a spontaneous summer holiday to the equator. Fortunately, despite my slightly melted state, the staff were brilliantly nice and accommodating from start to finish.
Conclusion: A thoroughly solid four-star experience. Would happily return (perhaps bringing a handheld fan just in case).
Absolutely spot on! Extremely clean, spotless rooms. Very comfortable beds, lovely and well laundered. Bathroom very clean....decent toilet roll, some hotels have cheap loo roll.
I think a table and chair near a mirror is needed for hair and makeup rather than standing up, but a minor issue and personal preference.
Service very pleasant on arrival.
Car park is fine although it's £15 for 24 hours, it's private so hotel have no hold on the cost. If it's full you can park next door at the stadium car park.
3 minute walk to our venue, so perfect.
Warm cookies, great quality and a nice treat.
Great location, walking distance to the city. The rooms were modern and nicely decorated and very clean and we received a warm cookie on arrival. All the staff were welcoming and helpful.
The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Surprisingly, for a 4- star hotel by Hilton, not even a 500ml complimentary water is provided in the room, and there's no bar fridge.
I was grateful that the young gentleman at the front desk arranged for the slightly early check-in after an international flight, so I could change in time for a conference. The female on night duty was not the most helpful when I called with a query about the aircon. Her response was dismissively, "Sorry about that" and that's it. Overall, service was fine, as I didn't need to engage with anyone on the busy conference days.
The hotel is situated approx. 1 mile from the city center and about the same from the train station. There are more central hotels in the city center (Mercure & Novotel), where the hub is, but the location was good overall. New Era Square restaurants are on the corner (although swanky and pricey), there's a 24 hour Spar at the petrol station and a range of restaurants and most places on London Rd and Ecclesall Rd.
I would recommend the hotel.
