The place

3820 N Roosevelt Blvd, in Key West's New Town district, away from the density of Old Town's guesthouse district.

The concept

BRE Hotels & Resorts combined two existing retro motor-lodge properties on the same New Town site into a single, redesigned resort under a new name and concept, rather than operating them as two separate brands. Virserius Studio led the redesign around an eclectic, story-driven island aesthetic: sand-dune tones, statement lighting, and a retrofitted vintage Airstream repurposed as a karaoke cabana.

Dining & wellness

Rum Row and Toasted Coconut, two tiki-style bars and poolside dining spots serving poke bowls, coconut shrimp and fish sandwiches, plus a lobby bar. Two connected pools branded The Backyard Pool & Social Club anchor the grounds, with cabanas, fire pits and lawn games including cornhole, bocce and a mini putting green.

Update: since posting the hotel has contacted me. Apologized and is going to offer small refund. I will definitely give them a second chance. I will also say the outdoor set up is beautiful and has plenty for a family to do. First the hotel looks great and the food was great. Staff was friendly. However I had a room reserved for 3 months and was told there were no double queens available. I was there 30mins before check in time. I asked when one would be ready since we were early. I was told there are none at all. Then the pull out couch the room we had to take smell so bad. We called guest service at first they showed up with clean sheets. We explained that wasn't the problem we had clean sheets. Finally after an hour they brought a clean mattress. Also the elevator often quit working.

Our stay was amazing!! Irina at the bar was amazing, so friendly, always greets you with a smile and works well even when its busy, she remembers your name and what you like to drink, the room was very clean and comfortable except the mattresses could be updated to something softer, the Engineer responded and replaced our fridge within 15 minutes of calling! Please fix the elevator as one working elevator made it difficult for guest and staff, pool area and outdoor area was well kept and maintained, we will be back as I come to Key West a lot!! Great location easy access to everywhere we wanted to go!! Patience at the front desk was also very helpful and friendly! The food at the food truck was amazing, fresh and had great taste!! Microwave in the room would also be nice to heat up leftovers. Thanks again!!

We absolutely loved this place. The rooms are so nicely decorated. There is so much for the kids to do with the 2 pools and foosball, Botche ball, pool, and all sorts of games. They have free shuttle to old Key West area as well. Plus bikes to rent. Lovely place will come back again. Highly recommended.

I had a great experience at this hotel. The rooms and common areas were always clean, and the entire property was well maintained. The staff truly made my stay memorable with their kindness and professionalism. A special thank you to Valentina, Joel, and Salvador at the front desk for always being welcoming, attentive, and ready to help with anything I needed. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Just spent three nights at the blue flamingo the rooms are comfortable so is the bed. The pool areas are beautiful clean and lively. The two tiki bars are nice with great friendly staff, but the menus could have a few more healthier items on it for people who don’t eat everything fried would definitely come back here. It’s a great place. Come check it out.
