The place
The hotel stands at the corner of James Street West and Charles Street, in the city centre and a few minutes from the Roman Baths and the other sights of central Bath. It is the only purpose-built conference venue in the city centre.
The concept
Apex Hotels, based in Edinburgh, opened the hotel in the autumn of 2017 after a £35 million project. It was the group's tenth hotel in the United Kingdom and its first in England outside London. Angela Vickers, the chief executive, called it a major milestone for the business. Local coverage described it as built from scratch, with a clean, contemporary look.
With 177 bedrooms it was, and remains, the largest hotel in Bath by room count. The conference centre takes up to 400 delegates and was presented as the only purpose-built one in the city centre; capacity figures vary slightly between sources. Facilities include a swimming pool with jacuzzi jets and a mini waterfall, saunas and a gym. The opening month is reported inconsistently, between August and late September 2017.
