White Elephant Resorts, known for Nantucket and Palm Beach, opened its Aspen hotel on 15 June 2026, after a first target of fall 2025 and an announced February 2026 date that did not hold. It is the group's third property and its first in the American West. The hotel has 54 rooms and suites and published rates start at $1,995 a night, with no resort fee.
The hotel stands at the corner of Main Street and Garmisch Street, in Aspen's West End, at the base of Aspen Mountain (11,200 feet). Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is a 10-minute drive and Denver 3.5 hours by road.
In winter the hotel runs complimentary transfers to Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk, and a ski lounge with butler service and equipment storage. Summer activities are arranged off the property: a gondola picnic and yoga at 11,000 feet, a Smuggler Mine tour, and priority tee times at three local golf courses. Guests can borrow bicycles at no charge, and the Maroon Bells are within reach for hiking.
The concept
White Elephant Resorts belongs to New England Development. Khaled Hashem is president of the resort group and Justin Todd managing director. The Boston firm EMBARC designed the building as a contemporary reading of Aspen's architectural heritage.
The lobby is done in charcoal walls and ivory furnishings, with mountain photography and two bronze elephants flanking the front desk. More than 125 original artworks, abstract and landscape, hang in public spaces and rooms. Emily Santangelo advised on the collection, and a partnership with Anderson Ranch Arts Center brings programs to guests, including a summer arts camp for children.
Suites are the larger part of the story. The Ajax Penthouse has three bedrooms and 1,560 square feet, with a wraparound balcony, fireplace and fire pit. The Highlands Suite covers 870 square feet with two king beds, a lounge and three bathrooms. The West End Suite measures 1,050 square feet; sources differ on whether it has two or three bedrooms. Top suites come with a games library by Arhaus, and bath products are by Byredo. Turndown includes chocolate from the Colorado maker Pollinator.
A central courtyard holds the pool and hot tubs, and the fitness center is open around the clock. Rooms accept pets, with a pet concierge, and complimentary airport transfers and BMW courtesy cars are part of the offer.
Dining & wellness
LoLa 41°, the group's signature restaurant, moves to Aspen from the east coast. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a dining room with dark recessed ceilings and red velvet banquettes. The menu mixes Asian and Mediterranean cooking, with Szechuan baby back ribs and Spanish garlic shrimp to share, then Korean bulgogi or steak frites. Seafood and sushi are the stated focus.
The speakeasy-style 41 Below bar pours the Funky 41 and the Alpenglow, among other cocktails.
