The Scoundrel Hotel, Tribute Portfolio
Appalachian moonshine heritage reimagined as a boutique Smoky Mountains hotel.

The Scoundrel Hotel brings Marriott's Tribute Portfolio to the foot of the Smoky Mountains with a 132-room property built around Gatlinburg's moonshining past. Developed by Tennessee-based AATMOS for roughly $50 million, the boutique hotel sits directly across from the Gatlinburg Convention Center and is due to open in the third quarter of 2027.

The place
The hotel stands opposite the Gatlinburg Convention Center on Airport Road, putting guests within walking distance of downtown Gatlinburg and the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The concept
Designed by ODA Architecture with interiors by Flick Mars, The Scoundrel trades on Appalachian folklore rather than mountain-lodge cliché: plaid upholstery, charred wood and leather furnishings nod to the region's bootlegging history without tipping into theme-park pastiche. AATMOS is positioning the property as a four-star boutique alternative to Gatlinburg's chain-heavy hotel stock, aimed at leisure travelers and small meetings groups alike.
Dining & wellness
Mischief Made Restaurant and Bar anchors the ground floor, alongside a lobby lounge, an open-air courtyard and a mountain-view fitness center; the hotel offers more than 5,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor event space.
