One of the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered. From the time I booked my stay until I left, they made me feel incredibly comfortable. I was traveling with a dog and they directed me to a pet sitter and activities to do with my little guy. They treated him like a vip guest with treats and everything. The large property is absolutely beautiful, well maintained and perfect for conferences, family gatherings and private events. Within walking distance of shops, skiing and plenty of restaurants, this is an ideal location for summer and winter.
My room was comfortable and clean.
Joseph & Rachel among other staff went out of their way to go out of their way to make me feel welcome.
The s’mores & whiskey tasting were really cool touches. They’ve even got a special vehicle to take you off property if you’d like to visit more of Vail. Everything about this resort says luxury.
I visited for a work trip and organized several dinners and activities around the hotel. The location is excellent, and the rooms are spotless and thoughtfully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. I especially appreciated the in-room humidifier—it made a big difference during the dry winter month (I stayed in February 2026).
The staff were outstanding. Every interaction was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful.
Since I visited in winter, I loved the thoughtful touches like complimentary s’mores kits and hot chocolate each day, as well as free drip coffee every morning.
The hotel is perfectly situated for skiers and snowboarders, just a two-minute walk from the lifts. They also offer complimentary transportation within the village on a first-come, first-served basis, which was very convenient.
Overall, I had an excellent experience. The group sales manager made organizing my trip seamless and stress-free.
I recently stayed at The Hythe, and unfortunately, it was a quite disappointing experience. While the property itself is beautiful, the level of service and available amenities during my weekend stay fell far short of expectations for a luxury resort in Vail.
It seems that during certain times of the year, the hotel scales back to the absolute bare minimum. Many of the core features I was looking forward to were completely unavailable:
• Closed Amenities: The outdoor pool was closed, and the full morning breakfast service was non-existent.
• Dining: All on-site restaurants were shut down. While there was a "grab-and-go" option available, the selection was minimal and didn't make up for the lack of a proper dining experience.
• Room Maintenance: I was placed in a Fireplace Room, yet there was no way to actually turn the fireplace on. It’s these kinds of details—which you expect to be seamless at a resort of this caliber—that were completely overlooked.
The Saving Grace:
The only reason this isn't a one-star review is the staff. Everyone I encountered was incredibly kind and tried their best to be accommodating despite the circumstances. A huge shout-out to Chef Kanoe, who went above and beyond to take care of me and made a genuine effort to improve the stay.
Ultimately, if you are paying full price (or even "off-season" rates), you expect the full resort experience. If the pool, restaurants, and basic room features aren't operational, the guest should be notified well in advance. I likely won’t be returning until there’s more consistency in what they offer
Amrita “amritacooks” A · 2/5 This is our second time staying at The Hythe and both times have been fabulous. We only live about 90 minutes away and the first time we visited was Easter weekend 2026. We were able to check in very early but it was also a very bad ski season and they had experienced many cancellations. We are Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members and our upgrade was a decent one for this trip
This being our second trip we really received a nice upgrade to a corner one bedroom suite and it was lovely. This trip we also arrived around 1030am and were not able to check in early, so we had to wander around Vail Village for about 3.5 hours which wasn’t a big deal to us. They had about 250 checkouts from a conference so it made more sense the room wasn’t ready. When our room was ready, they did call us at 2pm and let us know the room was ready, as they stated they would. We were celebrating my birthday and they left a birthday card with chocolate covered strawberries which was lovely & delicious.
The hotel is beautiful and we very much enjoy it. The S’mores are a great touch each day. The more adult hot tub is a nice area to relax as the pool definitely has many families if you don’t mind that.
Brunch was great both times and we didn’t have to wait long to be seated.
Valet was very attentive when we arrived and stored our bags for us till our room was ready. Upon checking in, the front desk took our luggage tag and the bags appeared within 10 minutes to our room. So very timely.
Our late check out till 4pm was honored and we ended up actually checking out around 230pm. Valet then was a bit more chaotic and they forgot to grab our car at first and my husband had to stand around a bit longer waiting. But it wasn’t egregious or anything and they apologized for the delay.
The bourbon tasting is fun each time. And the second floor bar had some decent drinks. We did not eat dinner here or order room services so cannot speak to these experiences.
Areas of improvement.
1. I found odd was when I inquired about CO local hotel rates & discounts for hotel rooms, the front desk staff had no clue and gave me the hotel reservations email to ask them. Seems like something the front desk staff should at least know about since many many hotels in all the mountain towns have this offering.
2. The water temperature of our room during our second stay was really temperamental. It was either scorching hot or cold and you couldn’t get a get right warm temp. Also showers are not large.
3. The room never truly cooled down till hours and hours later and the living room was cooler than the bedroom. It was just odd for a room that didn’t get the most direct sunlight and had blackout curtains it took a lot to cool it down and if you adjusted the temp even one degree the room really started warming up again.
We will be back for sure. But just a few items for how high of a price point this hotel is. $65 valet on top of a $60 resort fee is alot so hopefully these changes can be embraced to enhance the experience.
It’s a lovely hotel overall and an easy walk into main Vail Village through Lionsheads village.
Pros: modern mountain design, good bar, free whiskey tasting and hors d'oeuvres in the lobby daily from 3-5pm. Complimentary s’mores bar. Good food at the restaurant (for breakfast, I recommend ordering from the menu rather than doing the buffet). Rental shop on site. Free shuttle service to Vail Village and the bus also stops right in front of the hotel. Lots of staff just walking around the lobby asking how your stay is yet none of them are actually looking around to see what needs to be done (see below).
Cons: because of the free drinks and hors d’oeuvres with no dedicated place to put dirty dishes and trash, guests left them all over the lobby and outdoor seating area, and they were not being promptly cleaned up. I finally ended up doing some myself because it was attracting crows and squirrels. Mandatory valet parking at $60/day. They advertise poolside cocktails on social media and our entire stay (a weekend at the end of June) we never saw a single staff member by the pool. The pool area was filthy - dirty seat cushions, spilled drinks on the tables that hadn’t been wiped up, trash left everywhere, pool deck in bad need of pressure washing, no landscaping. Overall the building and property just need to be maintained better, it’s kind of at a point where repairs/deep cleaning/replacements are becoming needed but haven’t been done yet. The air conditioning in our room was so loud it woke both of us up several times throughout the night whenever it kicked on. There’s also some sort of water pressure issue in the building and if you take a shower when a lot of other guests are showering, the water temperature fluctuates quite significantly.
Then when we got home we discovered they had double charged us for the room 🤦🏻♀️
I will add that they seemed to be hosting some sort of group event while we were there so maybe the staff was preoccupied with that, but perhaps don’t do this if it’s going to detract so much from the experience of your other guests.
